York 2026 - an unforgettable week for Year 7!

19th Jun 2026

Our Primary 7 pupils recently returned from an incredible residential trip to York, packed with excitement, learning and plenty of fun-filled moments.

Day 1 began bright and early as we travelled from Dublin to Holyhead by ferry. Spirits were high as the children enjoyed the sea journey before making our way to Chester Zoo, where everyone had the chance to explore and see a wide variety of amazing animals. After a busy afternoon, we arrived at our hotel and finished the day with a delicious meal at Toby Carvery, where everyone was well fed and ready for the days ahead.

On Day 2, we stepped back in time with a visit to Eden Camp, where pupils learned about life during World War II through engaging exhibits and interactive displays. From there, we headed into York city centre for a guided tour of the magnificent York Minster, leaving everyone in awe of its history and architecture. The day continued with a visit to the Jorvik Viking Centre, bringing York’s Viking past to life, followed by some well-earned shopping time along the famous Shambles. To round off a fantastic day, we enjoyed bowling together before a meal at McDonald’s.

Day 3 saw another early start as we travelled to Alton Towers. This was a highlight of the trip, with thrills, rides and laughter all day long. The excitement continued into the evening as we returned for another enjoyable meal at Toby Carvery, sharing stories from a brilliant day.

On Day 4, we began our journey home, making a special stop at the village in Wales with the famously long name, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch – a great souvenir and shopping opportunity and a fun memory for everyone! We then continued on to catch the ferry, arriving back in Omagh on Thursday night.

It truly was an amazing trip, full of memorable experiences, laughter and learning. The children had a fantastic time and made memories that will stay with them for years to come.
