Year 6 recently made the short trip across to Omagh Academy to take place in a Robotics workshop. The Robot Master (Pat) taught us how to program robot buggies to take a route safely and quickly along a track. The children worked really brilliantly in pairs in response to the challenge, which involved plenty of testing and careful calculations. The grand finale was an exciting race! After a couple of tense heats, the final race was won by Harry McKelvey and Shay - richly deserved. Unfortunately one of the robots had to be disqualified for attacking the other cars but their owners claimed it was 'an accident'.
Everybody thoroughly enjoyed their day out and we would like to thank the Academy for inviting us to take part. Our next step could be designing driverless cars, but that could be a few years away just yet - thankfully!
