Year 1 start their new topic of 'Autumn'

9th Oct 2020

This week we ended our topic 'All About Me' with a special 'virtual' visit from Mrs Daley and baby Rosie. It was a lovely treat to see Mrs Daley again and we listened carefully to all the different jobs she has to do to look after her new baby. She sounds very busy indeed! We are now equipped with plenty of ideas to help us care for our baby dolls and teddy bears.

We are very excited about our new topic of 'Autumn' and all had lots of personal experiences to contribute when topic planning. We can't wait to explore the season over the coming weeks.

This week we have been...

  • Learning about number 3
  • Word building with all of the sounds from unit 1 (s a t m i)
  • Reading our key words
  • Recognising and naming 2d shapes (triangles)
  • Exploring money in our role play farm shop
  • Investigating pumpkins
  • Participating in PE lessons in the PE hall
  • Developing our talking and listening skills through small group listening activities
  • Working on a very special harvest surprise...you will have to wait to Thursday 22nd October to find out what we have in store!

Enjoy talking about our photographs at home together
