Caution: Year 1 at Work (and play!)

26th Nov 2021

On Wednesday morning, the boys and girls in Year 1 were excited to discover new signs and equipment in their playground!

The Site Safety sign and chalkboard at the stone pit led to lots of chat about planning to build a house next to a castle and the plans were duely drawn up on the chalkboard.

The 'temperature gauge' on the wall coincided with the drop in temperature outside but was also great for measuring how tall we all are.

Our new clock sign encouraged us to talk about different times of the day and was another place that we could spot numbers in our environment.

The mirrors by our climbing equipment meant that we could 'see what we look like' and we could watch ourselves climb or ...dance!

We have also been working hard in the classroom:

listening for sound 'g' in words and word building 'bag',

using ICT to read the key words we have been learning,

giving compliments to the Child of The Day in our class,

learning about number 8: counting eight objects, looking for the number 8 in our environment and practising forming 8 on our whiteboards and in our books, and

practising for our Christmas Show!

Have a lovely weekend Year 1.
