STEM Bridges in Year 5 (Mrs Brown)
8th May 2026
For this STEM challenge, the goal was to design and build a bridge using recycled or “junk” materials that could successfully support the weight of 50 multilink cubes.
During the planning stage, different bridge designs were discussed and the boys and girls got to work, thinking about what they could do and what materials they would need.
The bridge was constructed using recycled materials such as cardboard, paper tubes, tin cans, plastic, and wooden sticks. Careful attention was given to making strong joints and reinforcing weak areas.
When tested, the all bridges successfully held the required 50 cubes without collapsing! Well done Year 5!
