Primary 6 Visit Omagh Library
Primary 6 enjoyed three fantastic visits to Omagh Library over the past few weeks, learning new skills and discovering everything our local library has to offer.
During our first visit, we were given a guided tour of the library and shown the different sections, including where to find fiction, non-fiction, and reference books. Everyone also learned how to borrow books independently using the self-service machines, and we were delighted to receive our very own new library cards.
On our second visit, we focused on the difference between fiction and non-fiction. Pupils worked in groups to explore the shelves, locate different types of books, and complete activities to help us understand how libraries organise information. We loved browsing the wide range of books and finding new authors to try!
Our final visit introduced us to the library’s computer facilities. The librarian showed us how to log on, search safely, and use the online catalogue. We also had a very important discussion about staying safe online, including how to protect our personal information and make sensible choices when using technology.
We had a wonderful time across all three visits, and we are excited to continue using Omagh Library to support our reading and learning.
