Marvellous May

1st Jun 2023

In May we had three Bank Holidays and school was closed.  Monday 8th May was in celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III.  We enjoyed lots of creative activities to celebrate, there was a special concert in school in the afternoon.

We have learned all about different minibeasts in our World Around Us topic.  We started the topic with a minibeast hunt in the school garden.  A snail found our photograph of a snail, maybe he thought it was his friend.

We used the Six Bricks software on the computer to help us with our measuring and estimating activities.

We sorted minibeasts in different ways.  Our first idea was to sort them by their colour; then we tried to think of different ways we could sort them.  We have learned all about different minibeasts, where they live and their life cycles.

We learned more about shapes and their properties.  We used lollipop sticks to make shape and count how many sides they have.  We made bugs using shapes, can you recognise the shapes we used?

In Money Maths, we have been learning all about coins and their value.

We joined our friends in Year 2 to practise for Sport’s Day at the beginning of June.
