Using our knowledge of how matter changes from solid to liquid, liquid to gas and vice versa we used clues in our environment to predict the outside temperature one morning. Everyone made reasonable predictions based on the information we had which also included the energy produced by the solar panel, frost on the roof and pupils keeping their hands warm inside their pockets. It was a balmy -1°C and we couldn't wait to get back inside.
