🏑 Fivemiletown Hockey Blitz – What a Day! 🏑
25th Mar 2026
Omagh County’s boys’ and girls’ hockey teams travelled to Fivemiletown College to take part in the Ulster Hockey Regional Qualifiers, and what a fantastic day of sport it was!
Our girls’ team were outstanding, going unbeaten in the group stages and securing their spot in the semi-finals. They dominated their semi-final match but just couldn’t find the back of the net, and were unfortunately knocked out on penalties.
Although it ended in heartbreak, the girls should be incredibly proud of their performances — they played with skill, teamwork, and determination all day.
The boys’ team had a remarkable journey, starting with a tough group stage but growing stronger with every game. They narrowly qualified for the semi-finals, where they faced Irvinestown, a team who had beaten them 5–0 earlier in the day. The boys rose to the challenge, playing brilliantly and winning on penalties — with goalkeeper Sam Pollock the hero of the moment!
The final against Kesh ended 0–0, and both schools agreed to share the win. A fantastic result for both teams, and an amazing achievement for our boys, especially considering many of them only took up hockey a few months ago.
Both schools have now qualified for the NI Finals in Belfast — a huge accomplishment!
Well done to all the players for their hard work, resilience, and sportsmanship. We are so proud of you all! 💙
A special mention also to our wonderful hockey coach- Nicola Clements from Neat Coaching. Nicola has worked so hard with both the boys and girls in the after-school sessions. Her dedication, enthusiasm, and support have made a huge difference, and the children truly owe her a great deal. 🏑
