60th Anniversary Celebrations!

24th Oct 2019

Happy Birthday Omagh County...Happy Birthday to you!

The pupils of Omagh County certainly do know how to throw a party. Children from Nursery to Year 7 delighted a packed assembly hall this morning as they performed a series of songs and readings, taking us on a journey through the last 60 years.

Omagh County Primary School opened its doors on 23rd October 1959 on the site it currently stands. The town of Omagh has seen many changes over the past 60 years and so too has the school. From numerous building extensions to the many students and staff who have passed through its gates, Omagh County Primary School has become an integral part of the community and holds a very special place in our hearts.

This morning's celebration was a roaring success and was only made possible through the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff alongside our fantastically talented pupils.

A special word of thanks to...

  • The kitchen staff for their delicious home bakes
  • James and Richard for setting up the hall.
  • PTFA for their help in serving this mornings tea
  • FODC for their financial support to help us create a piece of artwork to commemorate the special event and Charlene Adams for lending her expertise to create the '60th Collage'
  • Layla McCaffrey for her winning design used for our birthday cake
  • The retired teachers from the school who returned to create displays of photographs of the school through the years

Thank you to everyone who supported our '60th Anniversary Celebration', we hope you enjoyed your morning just as much as we did!

A DVD of today will be available for purchase in November from the school office.

Save the date!!

We are putting on a variety concert in The Strule Arts Centre on Tuesday 10th December at 7.30pm. There will be a festive drinks reception prior to the show (at 6.30pm) which will be the ideal opportunity to meet up with friends from your school days and reminisce of your time at Omagh County Primary. A wide selection of photographs of the school through the decades will be on display at the pre-reception.
