3D Shape Construction in P.3!
6th Mar 2026
Today, the children in Mrs Crosbie's class took part in a hands-on activity where they constructed 3D shapes using dry spaghetti and playdough. Working in small groups, they explored how to join the pieces together to create cubes, pyramids and other simple structures.
The activity encouraged teamwork, problem-solving and the use of mathematical vocabulary such as edges, vertices and faces. The children experimented with different ways to make their shapes stronger and quickly realised the importance of stable bases and careful positioning.
Overall, the P.3's showed great creativity and enthusiasm, and this practical task helped deepen their understanding of 3D shapes in a fun, engaging way.
Well done Primary 3!
