Autumn Forest School

Today Miss Lockington's Year 5 class headed to Forest school to look for signs of autumn. We started with a leaf search and then collected sticks and leaves for an art project. Using measuring tapes, string and a complicated Mathematical equation we were able to calculate the age of some of the trees in the forest. We were surprised at how old some of the trees were. Gruffalo Day in Nursery!

"All was quiet in the deep, dark wood".... but in nursery, the boys and girls were busy making owl ice cream, scrambling up some snake and roasting fox! They also made a delicious Gruffalo crumble! As a special treat, we visited Year 1 to watch the Gruffalo movie and the children couldn't believe they knew the words as the story progressed. Well done to all who dressed up - you looked fantastic!

Year 1 were excited to begin their new topic of ' AUTUMN ' this week.
We loved observing the changes at Hill at the High and even collected some colourful autumn leaves to bring back to our classroom. In school, there was lots of excitement over the introduction of new toys. The October dressing up box proved very popular, everyone had lots of fun reenacting 'Room on the Broom'.
