Assembly Hall

The school assembly hall has multi-purpose roles:

  • Physical education
  • Music
  • Assemblies
  • Drama

and other school functions.

Classrooms are resourced to a high specification, and all have been recently refurbished with new furnishings and fitted with interactive whiteboards.

Children are encouraged to treat resources with care and respect and this is reflected in the general conduct of the children in and around all areas of the school.

While the junior and senior wing make up the main school, to the rear of the building is situated the new Early Years Centre, consisting of Nursery and two Primary One classrooms.

Key Stage 2 Learning Support Centre

Our Learning Support Centre is for children with SEN statements, who may benefit from a small class environment. Children from Year 5-7 are given the opportunity to experience a KS2 curriculum planned and delivered at their individual level, especially in Literacy and Numeracy. The centre places great emphasis on developing pupil independence, emotional skills, social skills and life skills to prepare them for their transition to secondary education.

The school has spacious tarmacked areas, divided up into Early Years, Junior and Senior Playgrounds.

The Early Years playground is for the sole use of Nursery and Year 1 children and has a soft play area, climbing frame, Trim Trail, garden, play house, music panels, covered sand pit, digging area, art panels and water tray.

The Junior playground is tarmacked with playground designs such as alphabet snakes, hopscotch etc.  It also has a soft play area with a trim trail.

The Senior playground has basketball, netball and football nets, with area clearly marked for different games. It is also marked for bike safety when children complete Cycling Proficency.

The Nursery Unit within comprises of one nursery room, a quiet area, a shelved storeroom and a utility room. There are unisex toilet facilities access. The Nursery Unit is complemented with two Year 1 classrooms and a Resource Area - hence the name of the Early Years Unit. Year 1 also have their own unisex toilet facilities

The Early Years playground is for the sole use of Nursery and Year 1 children and has a soft play area, climbing frame, Trim Trail, garden, play house, music panels, covered sand pit, digging area, art panels and water tray.

Computer Suite

The school has a computer suite, consisting of 15 computers which comfortably accommodate up to 30 children working in pairs. This is a tremendous facility with all computers linked to classroom computers, forming an Intranet of readily accessible software.

The computer suite is timetabled and all classes from Primary 1-7 have weekly access, ensuring progression and continuity throughout the year groups. All staff have gained computer competence through participation in nationally recognised I.T. courses.

Environmental Learning Zone

Our Environmental Learning Zone was developed in 2012 and has been a welcome and well used area of our school environment. All our classes use it at various times in the year for many different uses. You may also find the Eco-Club planting their peas and carrots, or weeding the flower beds.

Indeed our Environmental Learning Zone has become a firm favourite with pupils, staff and parents alike!

We have a newly refurbished library with a wide selection of books for the children to enjoy.
