Farewell Assembly June 2021!

29th Jun 2021

There have been many changes in OCPS since last March and physically coming together as a school family has been one of the things we have missed most since adapting to our 'new normal'. Today, we finally had the opportunity to join together for our first school assembly in eighteen months.

The sun shone as over three hundred smiling faces gathered in the senior playground to wave goodbye to another academic year and to some well known faces who will not be returning to Omagh County in September.

For Year 7 it was their final assembly and an opportunity for all the staff and pupils to say goodbye and wish them well for the next chapter in their school careers.

Mrs McMullan is sadly leaving Omagh County after 21years of service to focus on her Sounds Write Training. During her time in Omagh County PS Mrs McMullan has taught Nursery, Year 3 and 4, trained teaching and non-teaching staff in Phonographix and Sounds Write as well as delivering staff development in phonics and parent workshops. It was lovely to hear pupils' voices singing together after such a long time and sharing their memories of Mrs McMullan.

We wish Mrs McMullan all the best for the future and know she will never be far away when we hear the phrase "say the sound".

Today we also said farewell to Miss Orr and Miss Cashel both of whom are leaving Omagh County to take up new positions in the new term. Also to Miss McNulty, Miss Clarke, Miss Gailey and Miss Berrabah who have all been on placement with us this year and were a tremendous support to both staff and pupils during home and supervised learning during lockdown.

It was also an opportunity to say thank you to Sarah Walker, Natalia Rejkiewicz, Louise Magee and Esther Doherty all who have been in school this year supporting our children. We also had the opportunity to pass on our best wishes to Miss Peters on her forthcoming wedding.

It was a morning that marked both the end of an era as well as new beginnings for so many.

We wish all our staff, pupils and families Happy Summer Holidays and look forward to the welcoming everyone back at the start of the new term.
